A driven, young apprentice has put the finishing touches on a successful apprenticeship, securing a place at the qualifying stages of a national competition.
Daniel Appleby (22), a third year apprentice at John Macadam and Son completed the online test to an extremely high standard, ranking in the top 30 high scorers who will now compete at the IMI Skill Auto National Qualifiers in June 2016.“We’re really proud of Daniel and his hard work with Macadams,” said Sarah Macadam, human resources manager.
“Reaching the qualifiers is testament to his hard work and commitment to the industry. He loves what he does, and has a vivid attention to detail; the whole team are really excited and wish him the best of luck.”Daniel joined the Macadams team, working in the Bodyshop at the Colne depot. He has flourished within his role; Training 2000 put him forward for the competition, recognising his technical and practical skills in the workshop.
Dave Horn, tutor at Training 2000 said: “Daniel’s work is really good and as he is nearing the end of his apprenticeship, we thought this would be a great way to celebrate his skills.” Run by the Institute of the Motor Industry, competitors will take part in six tasks in a day to prove their technical and practical ability, alongside a knowledge based test to finish. The top six will then progress to the live finals held at the Skills Show. This event will award the IMI Skill Auto Bronze, Silver and Gold medallists.
