A keen Lancashire travel apprentice has totted up sales worth almost £500,000 in the past 12 months placing her firmly on the company leaderboard and on track for future progression within the company.
Lucy Glynn, (20) a second year employee at Althams Travel, who secured her apprenticeship through Training Station, started her journey in July 2014 at the Nelson branch in Lancashire. This was short-lived and proving to be a real asset to the team, she was quickly moved to the bigger branch in the nearby town of Burnley.
“Lucy has a very wise head on her shoulders and her potential for the industry shone through from the moment she started with us,” said Eddie Starkie, managing director at Althams Travel.“Her willingness to learn and mature nature means she has flourished within the team; the figures speak for themselves and Lucy has proved to be a vital member of the team.”
Althams Travel is an independent, family owned travel agent established in 1874. With a number of awards and accolades under its belt, including being named as the ‘Best Large Agency’ North West England & North Wales at the recent Agent Achievement Awards for the Third consecutive year, the company excels at delivering un-biased holiday advice and a very high standard of service to all their customers.Eight staff members occupy the Burnley branch, both part time and full time; Lucy’s status has soared as she is now proudly third in the branch, in terms of figures and sales targets.
She is the leading apprentice in her year, securing 633 passenger sales. In comparison, the apprentice currently behind her secured 495 passengers; a noticeable difference and proof of Lucy’s dedication and hard work.Productivity is monitored at each branch; this is the total revenue which the apprentice has booked in the year, including all types of holidays, flights, rail, coach and holiday centres to name a few. Lucy achieved £485,000, a figure which is particularly high and reflective of her achievements in the branch.
“I’m thoroughly enjoying my role within the Althams team, it’s exciting and diverse and there’s plenty of room to grow and learn with the company.”Lisa Whiteoak, director at Training Station said: “We’re delighted with Lucy’s progress; our apprentices are trained to deliver and always encouraged to do the very best they can. “Lucy has a keen interest in the travel industry and wants to do well; it’s this ambition which motivates her. If she continues to work hard, I’m sure she will progress to a managerial position.”
