Yoga reduces menopause symptoms by up to 59 per cent!
I’m always keen to do independent research to show the impact that yoga can have. So when I decided to run a yoga for menopause course I wanted to see what impact it had on individuals and their symptoms.
We carried out a five-week YOGA FOR MENOPAUSE pilot with Progress Housing Group, asking participants to score 23 common menopause symptoms before and after the pilot.
We recorded the sessions so that participants could re-play sessions and practice at home. We measured the results for people who had done some of the planned lessons, all of the planned lessons and those who had carried out additional practice at home.
The results are detailed below:
Taking part in yoga for the menopause sessions over five weeks decreases the average response to a range of 23 symptoms by at least 25.27 per cent and at most by 46.36 per cent. Some students did not participate in all of the five sessions however there was still an average decrease in symptoms by at least 14.39 per cent and at most by 45.57 per cent. Where students participated in all five sessions there was a higher average decrease in symptoms by at least 27.20 per cent and at most 55.81 per cent. However the biggest decrease in symptoms was where students practised at home in addition to the weekly session i.e. they repeated the same sessions again. The average decrease in symptoms was at least 32.15 per cent and at most 59.18 per cent.
