Construction work has begun on a new employment site at Blackburn's new £13m gateway scheme.
The 9,050 sq ft development off Carl Fogarty Way has been secured by Inceptum 2 Management and will be converted into a light industrial or trade counter scheme.
The unit has been designed so that it can be let as a whole or sub-divided into smaller units. It can also accommodate mezzanine floor areas too.
The site has been designed by architects KPP with the build being delivered by contractors C&AJ Marshall.
With work now underway, Inceptum 2 is already looking for more sites in the area.
Simon Lyons, director, said: "This is a fantastic gateway location – close to Junction 6 of the M65, the neighbouring Frontier Park and Whitebirk Industrial Estate with easy access to Blackburn town centre.
"We are proud to be delivering a quality scheme here with a long-term commitment to the site and the area."
“Due to the prominent location, we’re already in discussions with potential occupiers for when the development is completed later in the year and we’re looking for more investment opportunities in the area too.”
Carl Fogarty Way is part of a key gateway having been delivered as part of the £13m LEP-funded Growth Deal 3. The Deal helped unlock investment sites along the growth corridor, supporting Blackburn with Darwen Council’s £1bn vision for the future.
Coun Quesir Mahmood, the council’s deputy leader and executive member for growth and development, said: “It’s fantastic to see construction start on this site – paving the way for new jobs and opportunities.
“As a council, we’re working hard to create a more prosperous borough where no one is left behind.
“Central to that is our £1bn vision for the future and developments like this help support that."
