Calico Homes has begun construction of its new flagship care facility in Burnley.
The firm has also shared CGI images of the planned interior for the £16m Dovestone Gardens.
The development, which is being funded by Homes England, will provide 93 apartments predominantly for people over 55 with extra support needs.
Work to transform the derelict land at Briercliffe Road is now underway.
The four-storey building has 71 two-bed apartments and 22 one-bed apartments. The individual selection process for apartments will start early this year and be a phased process.
Facilities that will be available onsite include a bistro open to the public which will also become a community facility for community groups to meet and undertake activities.
Ring Stones Construction and Maintenance is leading the construction work on behalf of Calico Homes supported by Identity Consult, the project manager and quantity surveyor for the development.
The CGI footage has been developed by freelance 3D artist Sam Calvert and the interior design work of Dovestone Gardens has been carried out by Studio Henderson, which has worked on development projects across the North West. Dovestone Gardens has been designed by architects, Brock Carmichael.
Phil Jones, director of new services at The Calico Group, said: "We’re delighted to show everyone an insight into what Dovestone Gardens will look like and excited to be progressing with the development.
"Dovestone Gardens will be a huge boost to the local area in providing much needed care accommodation and we’re proud at Calico to be the deliverer of Burnley’s first extra care facility.”
