Winter Wheelers, which is run by Love to Ride, is a 25-day long UK-wide competition encouraging people to cycle a minimum of 10 minutes a day to win prizes.
Supported by Lancashire County Council, the initiative wants to help folk focus on building cold weather riding skills and improve their mental and physical health.
Winter Wheelers is a great way to conquer the cold and get more people enjoying wonderful winter bike rides. The competition is not about who can ride the most miles, it’s simply about taking part and encouraging others to do the same.
In addition to our highly targeted communications and free resources, we also have dedicated webinars, Quick Courses and Badges to maximise engagement and behaviour change outcomes.
Here’s what you need to know:
Everyone is invited – from regular riders to people who haven’t been on a bike in years (or ever!)
Individuals only have to log a ride, it’s not about how many miles - it’s long enough to experience the joy of riding a bike and short enough to be an easy first step to taking up riding
You can ride anywhere any time – it doesn’t have to be a commute to work, any bike ride counts
Encouragement is at the core of Love to Ride, and we want people to invite their co-workers, friends, and family to take part
There are loads of amazing prizes to be won by participating and encouraging others to discover or rediscover riding
How will local businesses benefit?
Winter Wheelers is a simple, effective and fun way for businesses to meet their health, wellness and sustainability goals. In addition, employees will enjoy a fun challenge that rewards them for changing the way they travel. They can ride together, share tips for riding, and bond over their winter riding challenges and successes.
Here are all the ways a business can benefit from taking part:
