Skelmersdale-based Walker Engineering has recorded a record year after experiencing double-digit growth in revenues, profits and headcount over the last 12 months.
Walker Engineering, which was launched as a one-man operation nearly 20 years ago, delivers mechanical and electrical fabrication, installation and maintenance across the UK.
The business, which is now owned and operated by husband and wife team Andy, managing director, and Sarah Walker, director of operations, works on projects across a range of sectors including chemical and food industries. Walker Engineering has also been involved in four large structural steelwork projects in the North West, showcasing its expertise in fabrication and pipework.
Over the last year, the team grew from 19 to 26 (a 36 per cent increase) while turnover grew to £3.9m - 73 per cent up from the previous year's figure of £2.2m. The firm also recorded pre-tax profits of £403,852, representing an 81 per cent increase on the previous year's £222,174.
The growth was support bed a number of high-profile contracts, including the installation of a blend tank facility in Widnes worth £600,000 and the structural steelwork supply for a property site in Formby worth £240,000.
