Burnley-based VEKA has appointed five engineers who lost their jobs following the closure of the Blackburn Graham & Brown site.
The move bolsters VEKA's maintenance team and enhances its engineering division.
VEKA talent acquisition partner Yasmine Hooson attended a recruitment fair at Graham & Brown in November last year, where she identified the potential in the engineers and extended job offers to five of them.
Three chose to stay at Graham & Brown to assist in the site closure process before transitioning to VEKA in February 2024, with most having had long and distinguished careers at the site.
One new recruit will be completing his apprenticeship at VEKA, which he started at Graham & Brown.
Yasmine said: "Following the announcement of their site closure, I connected with Graham & Brown’s head of HR, recognising an opportunity to support their employees in transition.
"Their culture and values resonated deeply with ours, mirroring the importance of people in our family-run business. Witnessing the calibre of their team firsthand at a recruitment event sparked my immediate interest. Inviting them for a site tour and discussions with our directors confirmed it: a perfect match!
"In a competitive market for engineering talent, securing five exceptional individuals is a huge boost for the future of our engineering division. I’m excited to witness their contributions and achievements ahead."
