The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) has become one of the first British universities to have more women than men on its governing board, following the appointments of Dr Dawne Gurbutt from UCLan’s School of Medicine, communications expert, Maria Darby-Walker, and marketing director, Lesley Lloyd.
The Higher Education Funding Council (HEFCE) recently reported a 'chronic' shortage of women on university governing bodies in England.
is currently a Senior Director at leading Financial PR firm Citigate Dewe Rogerson. Maria was born in Lancashire and has strong links to the region.
