Unique Kidz and Co has been selected as Lancaster and Morecambe Chamber of Commerce's charity of the year.
Morecambe-based Unique Kidz and Co offers disabled children and adults with disabilities access to high-quality play activities and childcare.
The organisation was founded in 2009 by two mums, Denise and Jane, who were unable to find suitable childcare for their own disabled children.
The charity's work provides local children with the chance to socialise and play with their friends. The aim of the charity is to advance the social and play opportunities of children and young people with additional needs and disabilities and to include their siblings.
With backing from the chamber, the charity will be able to progress plans currently in the pipeline.
Chris Gardner, president of the Lancaster and Morecambe Chamber of Commerce added: “I’m delighted to be able to support Unique Kidz for my two years as Chamber President. When I was asked to choose an official charity, it was an easy choice to make.
"I, like countless other people in the district and beyond, am aware of the fantastic work that Jane, Denise, and everyone else do and a recent tour of the facility confirmed this to me. I look forward to doing whatever I can to assist this marvelous charity during my term as president.”
Jane Halpin, co-founder of Unique Kidz and Co, said: "Unique Kidz and Co are thrilled to be the president's chosen charity for the next two years. It is an exciting time of growth as we prepare to submit plans which will secure the charity's future and next year we will celebrate our 15th birthday."
