Lea Hough Chartered Surveyors has welcomed two new members to their building surveying team to support the firm’s long-term growth plans. Josh Wardle and Connor Maxwell have joined the firm as Graduate Building Surveyors to help the firm’s existing established team across both property owner and business client work.
Josh and Connor join Lea Hough having both completed BSc (hons) degrees in Building Surveying. The pair will now continue their learning on the job - working towards becoming Chartered Building Surveyors by following Lea Hough’s structured training programme that is approved by the RICS. Both graduates will be based at Lea Hough’s Blackburn office, where they will be supported in their everyday work by the other members of our building surveying team.
Whilst training to become Chartered, Josh and Connor will undertake a wide variety of work including survey inspections, the preparation of Condition Survey Reports, writing Specifications and preparing drawings, and various tasks involved with building repairs, refurbishments, conversions and extensions.
The role of a Graduate Building Surveyor also involves assisting Chartered Building Surveyor colleagues with inspecting buildings, preparing condition reports and project management services; all tasks that Josh and Connor will gain knowledge of and work towards being able to undertake on their own.
Paul Dignan, Partner at Lea Hough, commented:
“In an industry where the average age of a Chartered Surveyor is estimated at 55, we are keen to do our bit to encourage the next generation into what can be a fascinating and rewarding career.
“Our people are a big part of our success and we’re delighted to welcome Josh and Connor to the team as graduates. Investing in the next generation of talent has proven to work well for us in the past – a number of our current team members have followed this route and are now fully fledged Chartered Surveyors.
“We have worked hard to produce a varied yet in-depth training programme and are proud that this has been endorsed by the RICS.”
