Grimsargh-based TWF Structures has been selected to supply steelworks for the Old Trafford Cricket Ground redevelopment project.
The firm has been supplying Bamber Bridge-based Eric Wright Construction, the main contractor for the redevelopment of the stadium which is home to the county's cricket team and host of various international matches.
The construction project includes the build of a 1,000-capacity stand, improved pitch-viewing from the Lancashire Cricket Club members' suite, and the addition of a heritage centre, a guest services hub, and a new retail store.
The Hilton Garden Inn Hotel, sitting within the stadium, will also be extended including the provision of a further 100 bedrooms up to a total capacity of 250.
This expansion will allow the club to host a greater number of large-scale events.
TWF provides a range of specialist steel-based manufacturing and installation services including design and build, steel framed structures, secondary steelwork, lattice trusses, steel platforms, gantries, steel erection, metal decking, concrete stairs, floor planks staircases, balconies, and balustrades.
Ian Simpson, director at TWF Structures, said: "We are delighted to have been awarded yet another prestigious and high-profile contract which further enhances our reputation as the go-to contractor in the region for all commercial steel projects.
"We would also like to thank our partner, Eric Wright Construction for giving us this opportunity to be part of such a fantastic scheme.”
Work commenced in July 2022 with the steelwork part of the project due for completion imminently. Completion of the entire project anticipated for the 2023 cricket season, which includes an Ashes Test Match at Emirates Old Trafford.
