From the 1st of January 2023, Training 2000’s Level 2 Optical Assistant Apprenticeship will transition to a Level 3 Optical Assistant Apprenticeship.
Blackburn-based Training 2000 are hosting a Level 3 Optical Assistant Apprenticeship Information and Q&A Session on Thursday 1st of December 8.30am – 9am, on Microsoft Teams. For more information, please visit www.training2000.co.uk/events/optical-session.
During the session, attendees will have an opportunity to find out more about how the Apprenticeship is structured, what commitments involve as an employer, and the government funding and potential costs involved. This is an opportunity for those who have already attended a Level 2 Q&A session to learn about the changes during the transition to Level 3.
Universities, such as The University of Central Lancashire, recognise the Level 3 Optical Assistant Apprenticeship, meaning that those who complete the Level 3 qualification and hold GCSE/Level 2 Functional Skills maths and English, can progress onto various Degree courses in the Optical Industry, such as a Dispensing Optician Degree. The development opportunities for individuals entering the industry are a strong incentive, and Training 2000’s free recruitment service can highlight this when the team speak with potential applicants.
For existing members of staff looking to develop their careers, the Level 3 Optical Assistant Apprenticeship will equip them with a deeper knowledge of the industry and provide them with the skills and behaviours to adopt a more varied role and alleviate the pressure from the Dispensing Optician.
Jodie Clarkson, an account manager at Training 2000 said “For employers, a Level 3 qualification is likely to attract a greater number of applicants compared to a Level 2. The Level 3 will be an opportunity to attract fresh talent into the Optical Industry."
