Case study: Chantelle Lighting
Highly-skilled leaders can make a real difference to your business, bringing the very latest industry expertise, energy and enthusiasm to bear.
Themis at Burnley College can take your dedicated apprentices to the next level with a range of specialist university-level qualifications - from HNCs and HNDs to full BA and BSc Honours degrees.
Meet Lauren Holly, general manager at Chantelle Lighting, who is making a real difference in business right now as she completes her BA (Hons) in Chartered Management with Themis.
As part of her degree apprenticeship, she spends one day a week in lectures at the University Courses Burnley hub at Burnley College, working on real-life business problems she encounters within the workplace.
Her university level programme includes: building practical business management expertise alongside interpersonal, ethical and leadership skills; detailed understanding of how organisations function and are managed; evaluating organisations and how management decisions are taken; and developing her own portfolio of work.
Lauren said: “I’ve always performed best when I’m able to apply what I’ve learned to real-life situations and events. A degree apprenticeship suits me as I can combine work-based learning with my degree studies and bring my new-found knowledge from the classroom back to the business and see a real difference.”
The impact of degree apprentices is felt industry-wide and draws the media spotlight to Lancashire. Jake Duthie, of Pipeline Induction Heat Ltd, is the latest winner of the prestigious Lancashire Business View Sub 36 Award. As a degree apprentice he has travelled the world working on key engineering projects and has recently graduated with a First Class BEng (Hons) degree with the highest ever marks recorded on his course.
