We’re celebrating the fifth anniversary of our flagship warehouse, Burnley Bridge! And what a fantastic five years it has been…
The Burnley Bridge warehouse was initially incorporated into Fagan & Whalley operations back in September 2017, at a time when we had reached maximum capacity at our Padiham depot facilities, and our operations had reached a real turning point.
Purchased with the intent of increasing the comprehensive storage and distribution facilities we offered, it’s safe to say that Burnley Bridge has surpassed our initial expectations and has played a huge role in the development of Fagan & Whalley as a whole.
Spanning 92,000 sq ft and boasting a height of 17m, the depot now has 20 full-time staff members working a three-shift rota, operating 24 hours a day and 5 days a week to serve a total of 21 clients. Since 2017, we’ve increased our racking capacity from 10,000 racks to just over 14,500 – meaning alongside our Frontier Park warehouse, we have more space than ever to offer our clients.
“We’re prouder than ever of our Burnley Bridge site and all of our colleagues who work tirelessly to make it the best it can be,” says head of warehousing Matt Giles.
“A real achievement for us is the A-grade BRCGS accreditation, which provides evidence that we’re able to meet regulatory requirements for the safe storage and distribution of food products. It’s important that we’re able to provide our clients with the guarantee that we can avoid cross-contamination between food products – and that their products are safe with us!
“Similarly, the Organic Storage stamp of approval, supplied by The Soil Association, allows us to safely store organic food products in our Burnley Bridge warehouse and ensure that the quality and integrity of these products are never compromised.
“We are also currently in the process of replacing our trucks with a brand new fleet that will be integrated with state-of-the-art lithium-ion technology. This is exciting for the business – as it means we’ll be able to drastically reduce the charging time of each vehicle and increase our efficiencies. We’re expecting this process to get under full swing during November and can’t wait to see the development of our fleet over the next few months!
“A huge thank you to all of our colleagues at the Burnley Bridge site for their continued hard work and support, which has led the way for our newest warehouse development, Frontier Park. Here’s to the next five years!”
