Taking care of all freight incorporated into our network, the team within the Freight Operations department oversee and complete collections and deliveries for clients nationwide.
Based within our main hub of operations at Padiham, the Freight Operations department works closely alongside our warehousing and transport planning teams to consolidate client goods and incorporate all groupage freight into our dedicated cross-dock facility, where it is then processed and loaded onto one of our own vehicles, or entered into the pallet network Palletforce, ready for distribution.
“Our team looks after all different types of freight, including mechanical and electrical goods, and organic food and drink products,” explains Head of Freight Operations, David Southern. “Our shift pattern revolves around three shifts, which are fulfilled by the 22 operatives in our department, and we usually consolidate and distribute around 1,200 to 1,400 pallets per night.
“Remaining flexible is key in our customer-focused approach. At Fagan & Whalley, we’re very reactive and we’re committed to ensuring our services consistently meet the needs of each of our clients. With this in mind, if a customer contacts us with a last-minute collection or delivery request, we will do our utmost to make it happen.
“Although most bookings are made via our portal or via email around 3-7 days in advance, we take a great deal of pride in our ability to provide tailored solutions and adapt our distribution schedule for clients who require same-day delivery services. This involves a lot of communication with the transport planning team throughout the day to ensure our clients’ orders are all being looked after, and we’re all on the same page.”
Our transport and distribution services are offered for full-load, part-load, and groupage consignments for both palletised and non-palletised freight, providing operational flexibility for any supply chain. Get in touch with the F&W team today for more information!
