Business as a Power For Good

So how does a company become a B Corp?

Step 1: A lot of soul searching

You need to be sitting down with your company and asking yourself some big searching questions around your purpose, your ambitions, your commitment, your time. There's a great introductory course you can do which B Lab UK have created which gives you the foundations and highlights the preparation work: B Corp Introductory course or find someone who has been through the process to help you...

Step 2: The B Impact Assessment (or BIA for short).

Go and register your to start your assessment here: https://www.bcorporation.net/en-us/programs-and-tools/b-impact-assessment/

I'll be honest and warn you - it's quite daunting and overwhelming but it will be worth it... Start gathering the evidence for each area.

Step 3: Legal Stuff

Nobody likes paperwork, but this is the good kind. You'll need to tweak your legal documents to include a promise to prioritise people and the planet alongside profit.

Step 4: Confirmation

Once you've completed your BIA then there is a wait while the independent assessment and validation process starts. You will go back and to submitting evidence and meeting with the assessor. This process is made smoother if you submit as much evidence as possible during the BIA stage.

Sounds daunting? Don't know where to start?

We have the perfect solution...

Register to attend B Corp Fest on Wednesday 5 June 2024 (World Environment Day) at The Wellbeing Farm : B Corp Certified venue experience. There will be experts on hand to provide practical advice and guidance around your B Corp application.

Meet with some of the team from B Lab UK themselves who can motivate you with your BIA journey.

Be inspired by hearing motivating and inspirational talks from companies and business leaders who've gone through the process and can answer your questions.

What better way to spend World Environment Day than doing something proactive towards being a better business and doing your part to help save the planet...
