This year staff at Taylor Patterson have decided to take on the challenge of walking or running from Preston to Perth Australia – virtually!
Following the success of last year's Lancashire cycle challenge, where staff were asked to get on their bikes and record miles over a two week period, Taylor Patterson have decided to go a little further and create its own long distance challenge.Staff each week are asked to go “the extra mile” and take part in either a walking or running activity, and their miles will be combined together to calculate the virtual trip across the world to Australia.
Staff have risen to the challenge with an array of activities from running 10k events and training for a marathon to something as simple as parking further from the office and walking a mile each morning and evening.Louise Potter, Director commented “We really have a motivated team at Taylor Patterson who are up for a challenge, and I’ve been amazed by the enthusiasm and effort people are putting in to help us achieve our goal.”
To keep everyone’s spirits high on this 12,000 mile journey, social events have been planned throughout the year. The first stop was to an Italian restaurant to celebrate reaching Rome and currently the team have just completed 3,000 miles with the next stop in Dubai already being planned. As the trip continues more social events will be planned to coincide with the countries we visit such as India, Thailand and Vietnam. This is all part of Taylor Patterson’s plan to help promote and support all our employees enjoy a healthier lifestyle. Taylor Patterson have also just installed showers and bike racks at their offices in Preston as a further stage of this initiative.
