The employees from Taylor Patterson swapped their usual commute for a cheaper and healthier option during this year's Walk to Work Week by travelling all or some of their journey to work on foot.
During the week, 29 of Taylor Patterson’s team clocked up 300 miles which equated to a saving of 52kg of Co2 and over 54 muffins!Initiatives included staff parking their cars further away from the office (and fines payable to charity applying for using the office car park!), a lunchtime Tour D’Avenham Park and team members having meeting points a few miles outside of the city to then be able to walk to and from work together.
Even when the rain threatened the team adopted the Living Streets top tip of being prepared “as there was no such thing as bad weather, just poor equipment!”Chris Bardin, director, commented: “This was a fantastic achievement by the team and it was great to hear of all the different ways staff stepped up to the challenge. We continue to place a big emphasis on a healthy lifestyle for our employees and are pleased that many are already talking of continuing with some of last week’s challenges on a more regular basis.” And the next challenge, Team TP will once again be taking part in Lancashire’s Cycle Challenge which takes place from 8th – 28th June.
