The Connecting East Lancashire project links people to employment, skill sites and colleges across East Lancashire.
Our project aims to promote and enable active travel, address issues of physical inactivity and remove barriers to sustainable transport. The Connecting East Lancashire project works with local employers offering tools, resources and support to help bring about such behaviour change. The project encourages colleagues to travel sustainably whenever they can.
We have a range of initiatives and support including: assistance and delivery of travel-to-work surveys and site audits; mapping of employee postcodes and identifying public transport, walking and cycling routes in relation to employment sites; cycle training and bike maintenance sessions; bike hire schemes; interactive roadshow events and workplace challenges; personalised journey planning advice and transport assistance; and provision of information and resources to promote sustainable transport. We also have community-based projects including cycle training and support for residents, and helping job seekers access work and training.
