Supporting the community over the festive season

Festive Season 01

As a family-run business, here at Fagan & Whalley, we are always keen to give back to our local communities and support those around us when we’re able to. With the current cost-of-living crisis and rising energy and fuel costs, we were even more keen to do our bit and support our local communities over the festive season.

Let’s take a moment to reflect on what we got up to last month…

BURNLEY TOGETHER AND CALICO HOMES

We were pleased, once again, to support the mission of Burnley Together and Calico Homes. The fantastic local businesses run a Christmas campaign each year to bring festive joy and hot meals to vulnerable members of our community over the festive period.

Over the month of December, members of our team pulled together to collect toys to donate to the initiative, which sees toys being wrapped and gifted to children who may not have otherwise received any presents.

We’d like to thank all members of our team who donated to this very heartfelt cause, in particular, our Cross Dock Yard Manager, Graham Brydges, who went out of his way to go on a bit of a spending spree and managed to bring in three big bags packed full of toys and festive treats for the local families!

We also did our bit to collect food-bank donations for those in our local community who may have spent the festive season without a hot meal, had it not been for the great work that Calico Homes and Burnley Together do.

“Fagan & Whalley have been honoured to support the Christmas charity endeavours of Burnley Together and Calico Homes for a number of years now, and it’s a privilege to be able to support a cause that is so close to home,” explains brand and marketing executive, Chris Corrigan, “The cost-of-living crisis over the last year has meant that many families have been struggling more than ever, and we felt compelled to do our bit and help where we could. We’re really proud of our team for pulling together and bringing in lots of children’s toys and festive treats for those families most in need - and we look forward to supporting the work of Burnley Together and Calico in the future, too.”

NATIONAL CHRISTMAS JUMPER DAY

The Fagan & Whalley team also had a great time celebrating Save The Children’s ‘National Christmas Jumper Day’, which was held on Thursday, the 8th of December. Taking any excuse to get out of our usual work gear and into our jazziest jumpers, we managed to raise a fantastic £100 for the campaign - which was a great effort from our team. A huge thank you to everyone who participated!

TRANSAID CHRISTMAS APPEAL

Finally, we teamed up once again with Transaid, supporting this organisation's mission of providing access to vital healthcare services in rural communities within Central Africa. The charity prioritises road and transport safety - and works alongside partnering organisations and government agencies to solve transport challenges in economically developing countries.

“We’ve worked alongside Transaid for a number of years now,” explains F&W brand and marketing executive, Chris Corrigan, “They’re a very unique charity, and the work they do is phenomenal. From promoting driver safety by encouraging governments to invest in increased safety standards for roads and vehicles, to ensuring families living in rural communities have access to vital healthcare - the impact they have is huge. We’re honoured to have helped raise funds for their Christmas Appeal, and we look forward to working more closely with the charity in the very near future!”

“A huge well done and a thank you to all of our team members for their fundraising and charitable efforts over this festive season. We couldn’t have made such an impact without you.”
