Sundown Solutions, the technology company and makers of the innovative healthcare product Yellow Bracelet based in Accrington, took time to visit local Sixth Form Centre St Christopher's, for a two way discussion about the pupils aspirations, and the future of cyber security and high tech jobs.
The Yellow Bracelet contains a scannable QR code which, when scanned, allows healthcare professionals to access patient care plans immediately, safely and securely without causing delays. Following a successful launch, the pioneering technology is now being rolled out across the UK.
St Christopher's, one of the leading education providers in Hyndburn, has a Sixth Form with a 99% pass rate for A Levels - placing them in the top 100 schools nationally, and as a top five provider in Lancashire.
Heath Groves, CEO Sundown Solutions, is an Apprenticeship Ambassador and keen to show young people there are different paths to achieving a high flying career. He gave an inspirational presentation covering cyber security and data analysis amongst other topics, and encouraged the audience to think of digital technology as touching everyday life. Career opportunities exist in software development and cyber security, not just as data analysts or developers, but in many business functions operating as an ecosystem around these roles.
Sara Britcliffe, MP for Hyndburn and Haslingden, also gave an inspiring talk on her journey into Parliament from St Christopher's pupil, to becoming the youngest Conservative MP.
Heath Groves, CEO of Sundown Solutions added "We are expanding rapidly and taking on many interns and apprentices, of all ages not just school leavers. We work at the very highest level of digital technology, and it's important for people to know that these opportunities exist in Hyndburn. Anyone who wants to apply can check our website!"
