Never one to rest on our laurels, we at True Bearing are now looking for the next wave of sustainability measures we can take as a firm, writes our Compliance Director, Helen Lupton.
We recently met with the Low Carbon Trust through the Chamber of Commerce to look at what initiatives and support are available. In our sights are LED lighting, and more efficient heating, however before that we have pledged to undertake an Energy and Environment Audit which will help us identify the areas to target, and we will certainly report back to you on this.
It’s important to us as a firm to constantly look to improve, as what were exciting new projects soon become the norm around the office, and enthusiasm can wane. Not here though, our sights are now set on external accreditation in future years, so this is just the beginning in aligning our core values both in and outside of our front door.
Interestingly in the current uncertain times, it is the core values of our employees that we are most proud of. From communicating with clients, to advisers thinking of their vulnerable clients and checking in on them, everybody is pulling together. Everyone is seeing how they can help each other and their families and their community, and we hope that this continues long after the stress and strain of Covid19 has passed.
For those of you who haven’t seen it, I would strongly recommend Charlie Mackesy’s book ‘The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse’. To quote ‘I can’t see a way through’ said the boy. ‘Can you see your next step’ said the horse? ‘Yes’ said the boy. ‘Then just take that’.
