Blackpool based Stanton & Novelty Confectioners, have enlisted the support from Blackpool Growth Business Academy to help scale the business. With the support of the academy they are set to meet their growth ambitions.
Since 1969, Stanton & Novelty Confectioners has been a cornerstone of Blackpool, known for its iconic candy and rock novelties. Managing Director, David Thorp is the third generation of his family to lead Stanton & Novelty Confectioners, and has recognised the challenges of managing a seasonal business. He sought expert guidance to take Stanton’s to the next level.
Blackpool Growth Business Academy connected David with their business transformation specialist, John Woodruffe. With an impressive track record of scaling businesses, John has helped companies grow from £12 million to £20 million and triple turnovers from £2 million to £6 million. His expertise in leadership, strategy, and manufacturing processes allows him to identify growth opportunities and guide business leaders in addressing them effectively.
The collaborative journey between John and David included several on-site visits, where they viewed a value stream index to assess key performance indicators (KPIs) and developed a comprehensive three-year orbit plan. The strategic approach has already made noticeable impacts on the business.
“John and I went through the whole sales pipeline – our existing customers, what we sell, how we can cross-sell – everything. It was refreshing to get that macro view of the business and really gave me confidence we were moving in the right direction,” David shared.
Blackpool Growth Business Academy offers fully funded support that continues to support numerous businesses in Blackpool, helping them grow and scale through expert-led transformation programs.
