Stanley House Hotel and Spa has raised £700 for charity after the success of its adopt a tree scheme.
The Mellor-based hotel is home to a budding orchard which has helped to boost funds for its charity of the year, Rosemere Cancer Foundation. The 16 trees in the Rosemere orchard range from Bramley and Cox apple to pear and cherry bare root and are available for visitors and supporters of the hotel to adopt for a donation of £250.
Wendy Hope, sales and marketing manager at Stanley House Hotel and Spa, said: “It’s fabulous to see both the orchard and fundraising flourish.“The scheme allows those who perhaps celebrated their wedding here to create a lasting mark or those with an affiliation to Stanley House to have a little piece of our gardens.
“We can’t wait to welcome our tree adopters back to the hotel to sample the fruit from the trees in the form of a freshly baked fruit pie.”Sue Thompson, chief officer at Rosemere Cancer Foundation, added: “As our partnership with Stanley House continues to grow, the success of the scheme to date will help to purchase specialist equipment and facilities making a real difference for cancer patients being treated at hospitals throughout Lancashire and South Cumbria, as well as the specialist cancer treatment centre at Royal Preston Hospital.” Stanley House is hoping to raise further funds for the Rosemere Cancer Foundation with the adoption of the remaining 13 trees.
