A project launched by a Mellor hotel is aiming to raise funds for charity while also creating a lasting memory for visitors.
Stanley House Hotel and Spa has partnered with its charity of the year, the Rosemere Cancer Foundation, to offer visitors and supporters of the hotel the opportunity to adopt and name a tree at the venue’s budding orchard.A selection of trees which range from Bramley and Cox apple trees to pear and cherry bare root trees are available to sponsor with naming rights for a donation £250, all adopted trees will come with a naming plaque and the option of nurturing throughout the year.
Adopters will be able to revisit their tree as it grows and will also receive a personal invite to sample the first harvest in the form of a freshly baked fruit pie.The orchard was the brainchild of the board at Stanley House. Director Carolyn Glassbrook said: “We first added the orchard to our grounds as a way of treating our guests in both restaurants with fruit grown and picked from the Stanley House estate.
Rosemere, which aims to provide care and facilities to cancer patients in both the specialist regional cancer centre at Preston and local cancer units in Lancashire and South Cumbria, was selected as the charity partner for 2013-2014. The charity is hoping to raise £850,000 over the next 12 months in a bid to provide additional projects that will make a difference to the experience of local people being treated for cancer.Enjoyed this?
