A sea of pink will take over the gardens of St Catherine’s Park in Lostock Hall on June 22, when St Catherine’s Hospice’s flagship fundraiser returns for all the family.
The Moonlight and Memories Walk is the charity’s biggest annual event, with more than 900 supporters coming together last year to take part in the evening sponsored walk.
Everyone is invited to pay tribute to their loved ones and choose from a six or 8-mile circular route, both starting in the hospice grounds at 8pm.
Emma Jacovelli, head of community engagement at St Catherine’s Hospice, said: “The Moonlight and Memories Walk is a very special ‘night to remember’ which means so much to our communities. Our amazing supporters raised £73,000 last year, which is enough to cover 365 programmes of vital bereavement support for families and loved ones.
“There will be lots going on throughout the evening, from live music and glitter face-painting, to dancing, stalls to buy light-up accessories, and more. Everyone is welcome to join in our flagship charity challenge, and we’re hoping to make this year’s event bigger and better than ever.”
People are welcome to arrive from 6pm to enjoy entertainment, activities, and meaningful opportunities for remembrance, before the walks set off at 8pm.
Emma added: “Our compassionate doctors and nurses provide specialist, person-centred end-of-life care at the hospice and in people’s own homes, and our dedicated Support Team offer bereavement support to patients’ families and loved ones.
“We couldn’t continue to help people affected by life-shortening illnesses without the incredible fundraising efforts of our communities, so we’re calling on supporters old and new to come together for a night of celebration and remembrance on June 22.
“We’re so grateful to those who have already signed up, and to James Hall and Co for generously sponsoring the Moonlight and Memories Walk, helping us to cover the event running costs so that all sponsorship raised can go directly towards caring for local people, helping them to have quality of life and make precious memories.”
Registration is £15 for adults and £10 for children, including a 2024 event t-shirt which people are encouraged to decorate in memory of loved ones, and a medal and tasty treat from The Mill café at the finish line. Sign up at www.stcatherines.co.uk or call 01772 629171.
