Matthew Ringland, a young engineer from powder handling and dry solids processing experts, Spiroflow, has been awarded the SHAPA Newcomer Award.
Due to current Covid-19 restrictions, the award was presented via video conferencing app, Zoom, at a special ceremony held on 22nd April.
The Newcomer Award is given to an individual of a company or organisation in the field of bulk solids handling, who has contributed in areas such as design, innovation, apprenticeship or further studies that has greatly benefitted themselves, their company or organisation.
In his role as mechanical design engineer, Matthew has worked on a number of key projects, where he has been instrumental in applying his design and engineering expertise to provide solutions.
A STEM ambassador, he was also one of four shortlisted individuals for the Young Engineer of the Year at the British Engineering Excellence Awards (BEEAS) in 2019.
Commenting on Matthew’s achievement, Spiroflow’s Ben Ayrton, said: “We are delighted that Matthew has won the SHAPA Newcomer Award, which is very well deserved.
"Since he joined us as a graduate engineer in the sales office, Matthew has rapidly increased his knowledge and understanding of our product range and honed his drawing skills, before being made a permanent member of the engineering team in 2017.
"He is hardworking, passionate about his work and has a great future with the company."
