Nine months on from the launch of its Wellness in the Workplace initiative, Preston-based recruitment agency, Spencer Clarke Group has released its 2022 Wellness Survey which details how the initiative is performing so far.
The initiative was introduced back in January 2022 to place emphasis on their employees' physical and mental wellbeing.
As part of the initiative, the company introduced Recharge Days and an interchangeable, monthly £50 Wellness Benefit. Other wellness perks such as fruit in the office, reusable personalised water bottles and caffeine-free teas were also provided.
The survey found that the initiative has significantly improved work-life balance with 83.4 per cent of Spencer Clarke Group employees scoring the company 8/10 or above.
66.7 per cent of their employees also reported that the scheme has improved their productivity at work and a further 58.3 per cent claimed the initiative has improved their ability to manage stressful situations.
The survey also found that 100 per cent of their employees believe that Spencer Clarke Group values their wellbeing.
Executive search consultant, Lauren Bailey, said: “The wellness benefits in place at Spencer Clarke Group are fantastic. The company puts the wellbeing of their staff first, always. The four extra recharge days and £50 per month wellness vouchers have been a fantastic addition to our work life, and have been thoroughly enjoyed up to now.”
Recruitment consultant, Adam Pickering, added “Wellness is key to mental health, wellbeing and a successful career. It’s paramount at Spencer Clarke Group.”
A healthy employee is generally a happy employee. The happier an employee feels in the workplace, the less sick days they will take and the more productive they will be.
According to the Mental Health Foundation, 12.7 per cent of all sickness absence days in the UK can be attributed to mental health conditions. The government estimates that poor mental health costs employers over £42bn each year.
As part of the survey, Spencer Clarke Group also asked their team what they’d like to see from the initiative in the future.
“The Wellness in the Workplace initiative has been a real success so far and we have lots of ideas to move forward with.” said managing director Mike Shorrock.
Shorrock added: “It’s great to hear such positive feedback from our team and we will continue to be big advocates for looking after the physical and mental wellbeing of every member of Spencer Clarke Group.”
