Preston-based recruitment agency, Spencer Clarke Group, has been getting in the Christmas spirit early by donating 40 shoeboxes packed with toys and learning materials to the Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child appeal.
The shoeboxes will be collected by a local church, school or group during the National Collection Week (15-22 November 2021) before being shipped abroad ready for Christmas Day.
The Samaritan’s Purse is an international relief and development organisation that works through local churches in Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia and since 1990, more than 186 million children in over 160 countries have received a Christmas shoebox.
Within the Spencer Clarke Group office, a tuck shop of sweets, crisps and chocolate is kindly provided by the directors, Mike Shorrock and Michael Spencer; employees can purchase items from the tuck shop and each quarter, all the money raised supports a nominated charity.
The money raised from the last quarter funded the 40 shoeboxes which include dolls, teddy bears, balls, puzzles, felt tips, crayons, colouring books, toothbrushes, soaps and sponges.
“We love seeing the tuck shop money funding great causes. This one in particular is really special because it means that somewhere in this World, 40 children will wake up with a smile on Christmas Day,” said Mike Shorrock, managing director of Spencer Clarke Group.
Director, Michael Spencer, added: “Wrapping 40 shoeboxes was no mean feat but we have a dedicated team who go above and beyond to make sure that the tuck shop money goes to a worthy cause, whether that’s locally or internationally.”
