South Ribble Borough Council has appointed a new chief executive who will take up the position this summer.
interim chief executive Jean HunterAs former deputy chief executive at Lancaster City Council, Heather has overseen budgets of £100m while leading a team of more than 1,200 people delivering significant change programmes.
She began her career in local government in 1985 and has held senior management positions at a number of councils in the North West, including Oldham MBC, Cheshire East.
She said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to lead the council in a place brimming with potential and with a great community at its core. I firmly believe that good housing, leisure, clean streets, coupled with economic activity is essential to our health and wellbeing.
The council has faced a difficult 18 months where the effectiveness of some of its services have been called into question.
“My job now is to put in a positive framework to build on these foundations and make sure the council continues to move forward and deliver the high quality, cost-effective and timely services residents rightly expect,” Heather added.
