Welcome to our new series From The Members, where we’ll hear from Society1 Members about what they do, why they chose Society1, and what they love about coworking.
For this edition, we spoke to Mich Bondesio.
Tell us about yourself. What do you do?
MB: Hi, my name’s Mich Bondesio. I am a writer, coach, and consultant. I am also the host of the Creating Cadence podcast, and the author of The Cadence Effect, which is a book about how to transform your life with intentionally productive habits.
How do you use Society1?
MB: So I’ve been a member of Society1 for a number of years now. And how I use Society1 has changed as my business has grown. I started off coming once a month as a community member, and now I use it once or twice a week to cowork. I also use the workshop spaces and the meeting rooms when I have coaching calls or when I’m running workshops in person. I also have my business registered here – I have a registered address that I use at Society1 and a postbox here for my business post, along with a locker for the storage of my books.
What is the biggest benefit of working from Society1?
MB: For me the biggest benefits of being a member at Society1 is the community. I work on my own as a solo-entrepreneur and freelancer, and I do have a home office, but it can get quite lonely working on your own. My focus is around wellbeing and productivity with the work that I do, so I know that it’s really important for me to also spend time in the company of others. So from a social/work perspective, it’s really beneficial for me to come in once or twice a week. It helps my mental health and wellbeing.
And then also what I find is, I’ve made some great work friends here, and when we catch up with each other if we haven’t seen each other in awhile, over coffee, we’ll end up talking about our challenges or what we’re working on. Inevitably that sparks ideas, and it helps to solve some problems. So you end up having a sounding board here, and a tribe of mentors, so to speak. And then the last thing about it, which is also about the community, is the team that manages that community. They make this place feel so comfortable and friendly, so for me, working here is like my home office away from home.
What would you say to someone that was thinking about joining Society1?
MB: The benefits of having a coworking space when you start out, is that you don’t need a huge financial overhead to rent space or a full office all the time. You can choose a plan that suits your needs, from an affordability perspective. Then as your business grows, you can scale up in terms of the type of membership that you have here.
What’s great about Society1 in particular is that it’s at the heart of a very creative area in Preston, and it attracts a very diverse group of solo-entrpreneurs and small companies and people working remotely. You have a diverse group of people, who inevitably through collaborative efforts, start fostering new ideas and innovation. It’s a really interesting, creative, and innovative space to be in.
