In a thrilling leap of faith, EBP Building Products very own Sam Brooke recently embarked on an adrenaline-pumping adventure by completing a tandem skydive from a vertigo inducing altitude of 15,000 feet.
Beyond the exhilaration, this daring act had a noble purpose – raising over one thousand pounds to support a broader fundraising initiative supported by IBC Buying Group.
When asked about his experience, Sam commented…
PREPARATION
“Leading up to this challenge, I wasn’t thinking too hard about jumping from a plane 3-miles up in the sky, the focus was more on why I was doing it! Two great causes, Unitas Youth Zone & Construction Youth Trust (Maddie Rose Campaign), which provided the catalyst for the determination to overcome any nervous energy there may have been”.
THE CHARITIES
“Unitas Youth Zone & Construction Youth Trust’s, Maddie Rose Campaign, are aimed at improving the lives of young people and providing opportunity and support where there may not have been otherwise. They both do an amazing job and I’m grateful to have been given the opportunity to support them in this challenge. It really is admirable how these charities are focused on making a difference in society, keep up the great work guys!”
JUMPING OUT OF A PLANE
“Once the door opened, the moment arrived for me to walk towards it, perching on what was effectively a ledge. Sitting there, it was noisy, windy and extremely high up. My tandem instructor (Paul) did one last check before we got the signal……. ‘GO!’.
"We somersaulted out of the plane and began to freefall rapidly, achieving speeds of up to 120 miles per hour as we reached terminal velocity. The air was thin and the descent was breath-taking (literally) as we hurtled towards the ground, what a rush! After a minute or so the parachute was deployed with a body jolting effect as we swiftly transitioned to a lesser speed, drifting gracefully for several minutes to the target zone where we landed (a grassy field to the South of Lancaster) . It was an amazing experience!"

Buoyed by the support of his colleagues at EBP Building Products and inspired by some great causes, Sam’s skydiving adventure was not just a personal achievement; it was a testament to the power of community and the willingness of individuals to step out of their comfort zones for a greater good. The funds raised will contribute towards ongoing efforts to make a difference in the community.
