One of the North-West’s brightest business success stories is expanding.
Derry Green, the Skelmersdale-based entrepreneur behind The Secret Garden Glamping, is set to launch a brand-new location in Cornwall, building on the phenomenal success of his original North-West site.
The announcement comes as the new series of Dragons’ Den premieres tomorrow evening, almost exactly a year since Derry’s groundbreaking pitch captured the attention of the Dragons and the nation.
The Skelmersdale site, which has become a local landmark, is already the most viewed, most booked, and most followed glamping site in the UK.
With over 1.3 million social media followers and a waiting list of up to two years, The Secret Garden Glamping has firmly placed Skelmersdale on the map for luxury tourism.
Now, this homegrown success story is taking its vision to Cornwall.
The new location will draw inspiration from the award-winning features of the Skelmersdale site, which has attracted visitors from across the country and beyond.
While the exact location of the Cornwall site remains a closely guarded secret, the project promises to deliver an unparalleled luxury glamping experience, blending breathtaking natural surroundings with the unique, high-end design that has made The Secret Garden Glamping a household name.
Derry Green said: “Skelmersdale will always be where it all began. This community has supported me every step of the way, from launching my first site to the journey on Dragons’ Den that changed everything.
"The investment from the show has allowed us to take what we’ve built here to the next level, and I’m thrilled to expand with a new location in Cornwall while continuing to grow in the North-West.”
Since his appearance on Dragons’ Den, Derry’s entrepreneurial journey has been nothing short of remarkable.
The original Skelmersdale site has become a model for luxury glamping, offering unique stays that cater to everyone from families to couples and groups of friends.
The announcement of a second site is a milestone not just for The Secret Garden Glamping but also for Skelmersdale, as it highlights the region’s growing reputation for fostering innovative and successful businesses.
Further details about the Cornwall site will be revealed in the coming months.
In the meantime, Derry and his team remain focused on delivering exceptional experiences at the North-West site that started it all.
It comes after Lancashire Business View reported last year that the Secret Garden Glamping was set to expand its footprint with the acquisition of the Grade II-listed La Mancha Hall in Halsall
The property, worth £1.8m, encompasses the Grade II listed house, 10 acres of woodland and paddocks surrounding the property, and additional structures and outbuildings.
The Secret Garden Glamping currently offers five-star rated 'glamorous camping' accommodation from its site in Skelmersdale, earning a win at this year's Lancashire Tourism Awards.
