seoBusiness’s newest team members have been recruited through the apprenticeship programme, bringing aboard two new enthusiastic team members whose own experience and skills will grow with the business.
Jake McCullough has joined our Blackburn-based Digital Marketing agency as a digital marketing executive, while Freya Elliott has joined sister company Time2 as an ecommerce assistant.
Both will be working hands-on within the business while undertaking studies which will ultimately see them achieve nationally-recognised qualifications.
Jake is working towards his Level 3 Digital Marketing certification and at seoBusiness he has already immersed himself in industry-leading SEO strategies which he will apply to customer websites to improve their online visibility.
He was previously self-employed and was worried that potential employers would pass over his CV. “I knew I would need help to get my foot in the door if I really wanted the structure and foundation that employment can offer,” said Jake.
And although the role has been undertaken entirely remotely so far due to social distancing, Jake has already enjoyed becoming one of the team and learning about the ‘immense’ benefits of SEO.
At Time2, which sells technology and gadgets online, Freya has been handling tasks such as creating articles and videos, managing social media, and working with customers.
She said: “I love keeping involved with various different tasks, and keeping busy in any way possible.
“Time2 is a great company to work for, not only because it has an in-house marketing department, so it allows me to stay involved in a variety of different roles, but also because we have such a good community with our customers, so creating content for them is satisfying and joyful.”
Nicole Holt, who helped recruit Freya, said that apprentices bring a fresh perspective and new ideas which will help the business explore new avenues of growth.
Nicole said: “We chose Freya as our apprentice as in our interview she came across very enthusiastic and passionate which are two qualities that we always look for, and since she has been working with us, we have seen these qualities in all of her work.”
seoBusiness’s Latif Kothia explained that the growing scope of apprenticeships and the flexibility of the programme made hiring apprentices the best option to help the company evolve.
He said: “As a growing digital agency, our objectives are to expand our customer base further and introduce new digital services to help our clients exceed their online business growth objectives.
“Expanding our team with a graduate apprentice is a productive and effective way to grow talent and develop a motivated, skilled and qualified team of experts. Apprenticeships help develop skills relevant to our organisation, and can be adapted as our needs change.
“An apprentice is motivated to learn new skills and put into practice the theoretical skills learnt during their studies, and Jake is very keen and eager to broaden his knowledge in the field of SEO and paid search to help online businesses succeed in this ever-expanding online marketing channel.”
