Blackburn Rovers’ all-time record scorer Simon Garner has called on the club’s owners to depart following relegation to League One as he spoke of his fears that job losses will follow at Ewood Park.
Speaking to Lancashire Business View this afternoon he said of Paul Senior’s resignation as director of football and operations: “He was appointed to sign players and that just didn’t seem to happen.
Garner, who scored the goal that confirmed Blackburn’s return to the second tier in 1980, is downbeat in his assessment of the way forward now for the club.
“And behind the scenes I’d expect people will lose jobs and that is very sad.” Speaking about the owners, he added: “The only way that the Venky’s can build bridges is by getting out of the club.”
