The North West has the potential to be a vital channel delivering trade to the rest of the UK but is in danger of missing out unless there is a significant “levelling up” of its road and rail networks.
That was the finding of a major report looking at the challenges facing the region’s supply chain infrastructure in a post-Brexit, post-pandemic world.
The report called for “fundamental change” in the region’s freight and logistic infrastructure.
It warned: “Arguably the biggest barrier facing the region’s logistics infrastructure is the limited capacity for moving freight, whether by road or any other means.”
