Ribby Hall Village, which in addition to its holiday homes has recently invested heavily in adding business and conference facilities to its facilities, has been judged as one of the most excellent destinations in the UK.
Almost 400 entrants for the awards were put forward to the panel of judges, with only a handful successfully receiving accolades. Ribby Hall was narrowly edged out by the Cotswolds Conference Centre and the Lowry Hotel in Manchester for the top spot.
The Visit England Awards for Excellence was established to celebrate the brightest and best of England’s tourism industry.
Jeremy Brinkworth, director of business development at VisitEngland and member of the judging panel, said: “We have had more entrants than ever before this year, and the sheer breadth and quality of events, businesses and organisations operating across England’s tourism industry has been truly inspiring.
“All the finalists should be extremely proud of their contribution both to their local area and to the industry as a whole, and it is very satisfying to reward their hard work and dedication.”
The Spa Hotel at Ribby Hall Village recently won the tourism and leisure business of the year title at the Red Rose Business Awards 2012.
