26 years of wedded bliss is quite something for anyone these days but when you have both lived and worked together every day for all that time, then that is quite something to celebrate.
Richard and Michelle Mellor, directors of Cummins Mellor, a specialist recruitment and DBS checking company are have celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary.“Being married and in business together has had its moments and at times been particularly difficult – notable moments are financially getting through two recessions, keeping calm whilst refurbishing our office from top to bottom and embracing the mammoth changes in technology across those years, that said, it has ensured that we have been able to provide employment for thousands of people, both locally and nationally. and at the same time have the flexibility to bring up two children, run a home and family, all whilst trying very hard keeping the magic alive!” commented Richard.
Michelle said: “It’s about laying down a few ground rules…no talking about work when at home, regular weekends away together and great external business advice is crucial”.Richard went on to say “We give each other loads of space and don’t harbour grudges or resentment. We respect each other and always talk things through before making decisions – oh, and I love her!”
Cummins Mellor was established in 1990 when the couple transformed their spare bedroom into an office until relocating to their premises on Whalley Road, Accrington a few years later. The specialist chef recruitment division which send relief chefs across the country has recently opened a second office in London which is managed by their daughter Katie. “It’s great that we can keep it in the family, we never thought when we first started our business that our daughter would be working with us and opening an office in London – we are so excited and keen to keep going – here’s to the next 26 years!”Enjoyed this?
