Rathbone Training is a national youth charity that provides training and qualifications for 14 to 24 year olds to support them into apprenticeships or work placements. “We work with more than 2,500 employers a year that actively recruit young people to grow their workforce and last year it trained over 2,200 apprentices,” said Candice Davies, head of operations for Rathbone Training’s Skills and Employability Division. Employing over 220 staff in over 20 offices in the UK, including a centre in the heart of Preston, Rathbone Training work with employers of all sizes to navigate the apprenticeship funding changes and manage their levy spend. “Our centre in Preston aims to support young people from across Lancashire into employment and ensure they have the skills they need to progress which will benefit the regional economy and support local communities,” said Alicia Yates, programme co-ordinator for Rathbone Training in Preston. Rathbone Training’s provision in Preston, is run in partnership with Preston College, and offers learners the chance to learn while they earn through European Social Fund (ESF) funded traineeship and apprenticeship opportunities with a diverse range of local employers. Mark Hendrick, MP for Preston, said: “I am passionate about apprenticeships and a high quality training provider like Rathbone Training is just what Preston needs to upskill our young people, make them ready for work with good quality training and placements so that they can kick start their careers with the right support.” An Ofsted Grade 2 provider, there is currently a range of 20 apprenticeship courses on offer through Rathbone Training from childcare to social media.
