Proud recipients of the BYZ Queen’s Award

In an effort to give something back to the vibrant community which surrounds us here in Padiham, Lancashire, we were proud to become a member of Blackburn Youth Zone’s Patrons Network back in October 2020.

Since doing so, we’ve organised a number of fundraising events in an effort to raise awareness of their cause and the important work they do in providing fundamental foundations to support a stronger community initiative for future generations. 

Most recently, our efforts have led to the launch of a new BYZ-branded vehicle, which has been out on the roads conducting local deliveries around Blackburn, Darwen, Burnley, and the wider East Lancashire area, flying the flag for Blackburn Youth Zone and drumming up interest in who they are as an organisation.

“Whilst the vehicle has been out on the roads for a short while now, we were keen to organise an official launch event which would provide us with the opportunity to meet some of BYZ’s young members and chat to them about careers in the logistics industry,” says F&W brand and marketing executive, Chris Corrigan. 

“It was great to see so many young people taking an interest in the event, and it was a pleasure to speak with some of the older BYZ members about the types of careers available within Fagan & Whalley and the wider transport industry,” says F&W customer service representative, Laura Fagan. 

“Back in September, Blackburn Youth Zone were awarded the very prestigious Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, which is the MBE for groups of volunteers who work in their local community for the benefit of others, bestowed upon them by the Lord-Lieutenant of Lancashire. 

“At our recent livery launch event, the BYZ team very kindly passed this honour along to us, gifting us with their own version of the Queen’s Awards in thanks for the efforts we’ve continued to make over the past twelve months in getting their name out there and raising funds for their cause. 

“It was a lovely moment to be presented with the award while we were all gathered together at the event. The award, illustrated by one of BYZ’s young members, has taken pride of place in the lobby of Albion House, and has made quite a talking point for visitors to the site, who have left knowing all about Blackburn Youth Zone and the incredible work they do.”
