Accrington-based business Property Shop have been officially announced as one of the main sponsors for this year’s Accrington Food Festival and ‘D’ Day War Re-Enactment, taking place on Saturday 11th June in Accrington town centre.
Property Shop – whose Accrington office is based on Blackburn Road, Accrington – are currently celebrating 20 years in business, covering sales, lettings and commercial in the BB1 to BB12 area including the whole of Hyndburn.
They join North Lancs Training Group (NLTG) as main sponsors, whose head office is based on Oak Street, Accrington and which also has a Vocational Centre of Excellence at their Old Bakery site on Grange Lane in the town, supports local people with Apprenticeships, Study Programmes, Traineeships, Commercial courses and courses for job seekers.
The event, which is free to attend, will include a main stage kitchen demo area, with performances from TV star, award-winning cake artist and celebrity chef Molly Robbins, local chef and owner of Crafty Fox, Paul Fox, as well as a Ready Steady Cook Food Pantry challenge, with the Hyndburn Food Pantry.
International, regional and local food stalls will also be on show, while Accrington Market will be hosting an indoor and outdoor market for Hyndburn Independents.
Event organisers #AmazingAccrington in partnership with Hyndburn Borough Council are also thrilled to announce a brilliant line-up of characters from classic British TV sitcom ‘Allo ‘Allo including René Artois, Edith Artois, Officer Crabtree and Lieutenant Hubert Gruber.
Visitors to the show will find the characters in and around the pop-up ‘Café René’ which will be based at St James’ Church, providing tea, coffee and cakes (weather permitting) with the cakes supplied by gold sponsors NLTG. Attendees are also being encouraged to turn up in 1940’s dress to create a sensational 1940’s scene ahead of the war re-enactment which gets underway from 12.30pm.
Other attractions at the event – which is also being sponsored by The Cardboard Box Company and Financial Affairs – include a replica Spitfire WW2 plane, a display of classic vehicles, as well as 1940’s singers who will be encouraging people to get up and have a dance on the town square.
