Leyland-based Progress Housing Group is to merge with Reside Housing Association, creating a combined portfolio of 4,500 supported living tenancies.
Progress Housing Group is one of the largest providers of supported living accommodation for people with a learning disability or autism, supporting more than 3,000 tenants across the UK.
Reside is a specialist housing provider supporting those with forms of learning disabilities, autism, physical and sensory impairment, enduring mental health issues and acquired brain injury. It offers accommodation for around 1,450 tenants.
The merger is expected to complete in the autumn, and the organisations say that the partnership will enable then to deliver more new homes and to invest in even better services for customers.
Diane French, chief Executive officer at Reside Housing Association, said: "Reside’s purpose for nearly 20 years has been to respond to the often bespoke needs of those needing housing with support.
"By working together with Progress, another values-led provider, we will be able to house more people and enhance our specialist offer, allowing people to live their best lives, promoting independence and supporting social care commissioning. We believe that this partnership will be a significant and welcome development for the sector."
Jacqui De-Rose, group chief executive at Progress Housing Group said: "I am delighted that our two organisations have joined and that, as one organisation, we will play a major part in meeting the huge need for high-quality supported living accommodation. Our partnership will enable us to deliver more new homes and to deliver even better services for our customers."
