As we are just over half way through the year the team at Taylor Patterson decided to boost their Preston to Perth Challenge by introducing a Preston to Perth Dash.
The event took place at Blackburn’s Witton Park Arena with two events starting simultaneously – The Preston to Perth 10k race and the Preston to Perth 5k fun run.Five members of the Taylor Patterson team took part in the 10K race. Nerves were apparent as the runners set off at an unsustainable pace apart from James ‘Tortoise’ McIntyre. After a nervy first lap, the runners settled down in to a comfortable pace. Competition was fierce at the end between directors, Chris Bardin and James Thompson however Chris claimed victory by over 30 seconds.
The 5k race turned out to be a competitive duel between adviser, Steve Jackson and director, Louise Potter. Louise Potter was very confident after Steve confessed that he had not been for a run in 15 years. However Steve posted an amazing finishing time of 25 minutes, to much friendly banter from Louise, however, it transpired that Steve had in fact been in secret training. The event was such a success that organisers are already being encouraged to start the planning process for the next event which has been tentatively earmarked to take place in September 2015.
As a result of everyone’s efforts the team has now reached India and is planning a Curry Night. This follows on from the Italian themed night and a Cocktail event when the team reached Dubai. This is all part of Taylor Patterson’s plan to help promote and support all employees to enjoy a healthier lifestyle. So far this year the team has participated in Living Street’s Walk to Work Week and Love to Ride’s Lancashire Cycling Challenge as well as members of the team recording all their own personal miles for the virtual challenge. All of this has meant that the recently installed showers and bike racks have been put to good use.
