The Outdoor Market at Preston Markets is set to reopen on Wednesday 3rd June, with various social distancing measures in place.
There will be a reduced number of stalls to give shoppers extra space, and trading hours will be limited to 8am to 2pm on Wednesdays and Saturdays to begin with.
The Market Hall and Box Market will remain closed for now.
Coun Matthew Brown, leader of Preston City Council said: "Reopening the Outdoor Market is great for the local community of Preston, the customers and independent traders. This is a key step towards the high street reopening and welcoming shoppers back into the city centre safely."
He added: "I would encourage everyone to continue to shop local and support our independent businesses who are anchored in our community during this unparalleled time."
