Preston City Council is bringing back a fourth day of trading to its popular outdoor market.
Friday trading has been reintroduced after an absence of several years, bringing it back in line with the city's traditional trading days of Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
A range of popular stalls beneath the historic Victorian canopy will trade selling books, flowers, plants, household goods and more, between 8am and 3pm.
Coun Martyn Rawlinson, cabinet member for resources at Preston City Council, said: "We are thrilled to bring back Friday trading to Preston’s Outdoor Market. This has been possible due to the dedication of our fantastic market traders and the continued support of those who choose to shop local and support small independent businesses, all contributing to the growth and prosperity of our city.
“Friday trading on the Outdoor Market will add to the vibrancy of the area, and will complement Animate entertainment complex, which is due to open in early 2025, and the Amounderness House business hub to follow.”
Pete Burns, outdoor market trader since 1991, said: “As a long-term trader at Preston’s Outdoor Market, I couldn't be happier about the return of Friday trading. It’s not just about the extra day of business, it’s about reconnecting with our loyal customers and strengthening the sense of community that makes Preston Markets so unique.”
The Friday Outdoor Market will return on Friday 10 May.
