Following a period of disruption, Preston Guild Hall has confirmed that it will reopen and will host Lancashire Business Expo on April 3.
The iconic venue suffered administration, closure and a change of hands but Preston City Council, the new owners, have confirmed that its doors will reopen. It will host the General Election count in December and will be ready in time for the expo.
Adrian Phillips, chief executive of Preston City Council, said: “We are delighted to be working with the Lancashire Business Expo to welcome businesses to Preston Guild Hall again in 2020. We recognise the value and importance of hosting the Expo in Preston and have made the necessary arrangements to guarantee the venue’s availability for the event.
"In the meantime, we are working tirelessly behind the scenes to prepare for the relaunch of the Guild Hall."
The April event is organised by Shout Expo, the exhibition arm of Preston based Shout Network. Director Ian Coupe said: “This is the fantastic news we’ve been waiting for. Preston Guild Hall is synonymous with our flagship exhibition, the Lancashire Business expo, so we’re delighted that we will be returning there in 2020. We’re looking forward to working closely with Preston City Council to ensure that next year’s event, which welcomes over 1500 delegates every year, is more successful than ever.”
