After launching its Fundraising for Faye campaign in memory of Faye Holden (pictured), a dear friend and colleague who sadly passed away at Pendleside Hospice in June after a battle with cancer, PM+M has already hit its target of collectively covering 3,320 miles which is the distance across the Atlantic from Blackburn to New York.
In response, the team has decided to up the ante by completing another 3,320 miles and bring it home for Faye.
Since 1st August, the PM+M team has ran, walked, cycled, swam and even rode horses to hit the staggering distance. The idea was inspired by Faye who had previously raised money for Pendleside Hospice by swimming the distance of the English Channel. The team is aiming to hit its revised target mileage by 30 September.
Jane Parry, managing partner at PM+M, said: “Everyone at PM+M has really got behind the challenge which has been amazing. We're absolutely over the moon to have achieved our initial target within the first month so we wanted to build on that success. We really want to make Faye proud and raise as much money as possible for Pendleside Hospice.”
On average, it costs £1,965 per day for someone to be an in-patient at the hospice, with yearly running costs totalling over £4 million and only 22% of grant funding coming from the NHS. This means that the hospice needs to raise over £3 million each year from charitable donations to keep their doors open.
Donations can be made via PM+M’s JustGiving page.
