Accrington-based Pilkington Bus will upgrade its fleet and hire new staff after winning a £3m contract with Lancashire County Council.
The company will invest around £500,000 in four new vehicles and eight new employees to serve the four new routes, which cover Blackburn, Mellor and Clitheroe.
It's a timely win for the firm, which has provided services in Lancashire for more than 50 years, as it tackles the coronavirus pandemic including tough social distancing measures and suspended school-run services.
Lancashire County Councillor Alan Schofield, Ribble Valley South West, said: "We want to celebrate this investment of nearly £3m. It's great news for everyone involved. It means better connectivity and an improved service for the whole community and further afield."
Alan Pilkington, Pilkington Bus managing director, added: "It's a vote of confidence from Lancashire County Council. We've been partnering with LCC since 1979 and we've come to be a preferred supplier because we always provide a 100% service."
