Coastway Ltd and Headlands Ltd have together submitted planning permission to build 92 apartments along Blackpool's south shore promenade.
The New South Promenade project will see two residential developments built at each end of a well-known crescent of buildings.
At the northern end of the site, the first apartment development provides 51 apartments replacing the vacant Skye and Colwyn Hotels and Sandpiper Holiday apartments. At the southern end of the crescent, the second property development will replace the Headlands hotel to offer 41 apartments.
The high-quality apartments will consist of one, two and three-bedroom residences. Each will have its own balcony or terrace, and a dedicated parking space.
Development on the crescent has already taken place with a new Hilton by Hampton, built in 2016, and in 2020 planning permission was granted for a £7m extension to the hotel.
The developments were designed by Preston-based architecture practice David Cox Architects. Planning consultancy Smith & Love is acting for the developer.
David Cox, added: “The scheme will reinvent this important part of Blackpool’s promenade. The two sites, north and south, will act as bookends to the crescent and help bring about much-needed quality residential spaces.”
